Billing

Understand Sendly's billing model

Sendly bills on the number of emails sent each month. Marketing and transactional mail are billed the same way, under the same plan — there is nothing to pick between and no plan tier to outgrow.

Free tier

Every project starts free and stays free until you choose otherwise. A free project can send up to 5,000 emails per calendar month at no cost, with no card required.

That allowance is shared across every kind of email the project sends — campaigns, workflow emails, transactional sends, and inbound mail all draw from the same 5,000. The counter resets on the first of each month.

Free projects are content-scanned on every send rather than on a sample. That is the trade that makes an allowance this size workable, and it applies to the project's own outbound mail only.

Emails sent from a free project carry a small "Powered by Sendly" badge in the footer. Upgrading removes it.

When a project reaches the cap, further sends are refused until the month rolls over or you upgrade. Sendly emails the project's members at 80% of the allowance and again when it is reached, so the block is never a surprise.

Pay as you go

Upgrading puts the project on a single metered plan with no monthly fee. You pay for the emails you actually send, and the rate drops as you send more:

Emails in a monthRate per 1,000
First 50,000$1.00
Next 200,000$0.70
Above 250,000$0.50

The bands are graduated, so passing a threshold does not re-price the emails below it — it only changes the rate for the ones above. A month of 100,000 emails is 50,000 at $1.00 per 1,000 plus 50,000 at $0.70 per 1,000, which is $85.00. A month of 1,000,000 is $565.00.

There is no monthly email cap, no plan to pick, and no per-contact fee.

The table above is in US dollars. You are quoted and charged in your own currency: USD, CAD, EUR, GBP, AUD, BRL, MXN, JPY and PHP each carry their own price, picked from the country your account was opened in and changeable in the Billing tab. A country with no local price — India, Nigeria and Pakistan among them — is quoted and charged in US dollars, and the dashboard says so on the page where you pick.

Checkout is per project. Billing periods are anchored to the first of the month.

Upgrading is per project, not per account

Each project carries its own subscription. Upgrading one project does not change the free-tier cap on another project in the same account.

Sending limits

Two limits exist alongside the monthly allowance, and they apply to free and paid projects alike:

  • A daily sending ceiling that scales with how established the project is. New projects start with a deliberately tight daily cap; it rises as the project ages and once it has a verified sending domain or an active subscription. This is an anti-abuse control, not a billing tier.
  • An account-wide daily budget across every project you own, so creating extra projects does not multiply your ceiling.

If you need more headroom than these allow — a launch, a migration, a genuinely high-volume workload — email support@sendly.now. We review accounts individually and can set custom limits by hand.

Monitoring your usage

The Billing tab in project settings shows current usage against your allowance, and lets you set your own limit per category (campaigns, workflows, transactional, inbound). Those limits are yours, not ours: use them to cap what a runaway integration can spend. You can also read the same numbers over the API at GET /api/v1/usage.

What counts as an email

  • Each recipient of a send counts as one email.
  • Inbound emails count at the same rate as outbound ones.
  • Attachments do not change the count — an email with an attachment is one email.
